Heart Of The Immigrants
The Story
Al DiMeola writes in the liner notes, "Our concept for World Sinfonia is to remain an ongoing acoustic world instrumental group. Each new record evolves to both newer and more familiar places. The goal is to retain the basic organic sound with most of the tracks recorded live in the studio. World Sinfonia tracks (with Dino Saluzzi, Arto Tuncboyacian and Chris Carrington) "Nightclub 1960", "Tango II", "Bordel 1900", "Indigo", "Heru Mertar / Don't Go So Far Away", "Someday My Prince Will Come", "Cafe 1930" and "Milonga Del Angel" were recorded live in the studio with no overdubs." Paying tribute to tango master Astor Piazzolla, the music on "Heart Of The Immigrants" has and Argentinian flavor and uses a variety of instrumentations, including a string section (conducted by Vince Mendoza), and the voice of Hernan Romero.
