Live 3 Ways
The Story
"Live 3 Ways", as the title accurately suggests, finds the inimitable and stylistically rich John Scofield in performance in three distinct settings. The first set (two songs) is a trio format with Don Pullen on Hammond B-3 and Marvin Marvin "Smitty" Smith on drums. Pullen pulls off some amazing organ work on this set, playing leads, rhythms and bass all at the same time, delivering a rich and full sound. The second group of two songs feature Scofield in a duo format with the legendary New Orleans musician Dr. John on piano in a bluesy set. The last set is a quartet with Joe Lovano on tenor sax, Anthony Cox on bass, and John Reilly on drums. This set is five songs and offers the most 'blowing' Scofield on the DVD. The performances were taped live at Chelse Studios, New York City on May 23, 1990.

Special DVD features include: None.
