An Expression Of Various Styles

San Francisco based solo guitarist Mark Holzinger submitted his eight song instrumental CD-R, Just Thinkin' Out Loud, an expression of the various styles he has developed over the decades as a professional musician. Free-flowing, melodic, intricate, expertly performed and intricately arranged, Holzinger has managed to deliver an engaging collection of tunes sure to hold the interest of even the most jaded of fans of instrumental acoustic music. All the instrumentals are originals, except for a well chosen cover of Lennon/McCartney's "In My Life" and the tune, "All The Things You Are". Holzinger;s originals are irresistible melodic gems which still offer compelling moments of improvisation and embellishment. Well done. Mark Holzinger was originally profiled in the February-March, 2006 edition of The Undiscovered.

Mark wears many hats. Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, he always enjoyed playing in bands with bass, drums, piano, horns, violin, vocals and even big bands. But Mark also spent a lot of time practicing and performing unaccompanied, not really knowing that this would have a huge impact on his musical future. Since returning to to his San Francisco roots in 1995, he has recorded and performed regularly at local venues and music festivals. He has released many CDs, among them a 2002 release with the 11 piece western swing band Lost Weekend, and his jazz-funk release with Groove.Org. Mark was the lead guitarist in the musical "Cumberland Blues" featuring music by Garcia/Hunter. A cross section of the artists he has played with include Big Joe Turner, Marvin Gaye, Ricki Lee Jones, Charlie Hunter, David Baker, Mark Isham and Vinnie Coliuta.

While performing concerts and festivals, Holzinger makes his living providing entertainment at restaurants, weddings, parties and private events. He has continuous, engagements on the Hornblower Yachts, Gordon's House of Fine Eats, Jupiter Lounge, and Italian Colors, where he strolls through the restaurant with a remote wireless guitar system.
