Introduction

The August-September edition is now online!

In the past two weeks, artists have approved and authorized almost 800 price changes to make CDs a much better value as compared to a downloaded mp3 album. In addition to higher sound quality and packaging, the CD actually has an aftermarket value, unlike its digital counterpart.

New Columns

Guest column bonanza! August's guest columnists bring ear training, rut busting, and business truisms to the table, and cover areas such as guitar technique, production and selling CDs. We've got fourteen fresh articles altogether - thirteen by returning columnists along with one new contributor. Canadian guitarist David Martone is back with another in his series entitled "Zone Recording: Starting from Scratch". Tom Hess returns with a new column for teachers called "Why You Struggle To Get Guitar Students". Mike Campese puts out yet another technique column, "Chord Tone Fluency". Paul Tauterouff returns with his "3-Note Sequence Ideas, Part 1". Guitarist Scott Allen is back with his column entitled "Soloing Strategies, Part 4". Guitarist Jirakit Somame returns with his new column "Pentatonic Speed Mechanics". Jean-Pierre Zammit also rejoins us with his article, "Legato Arpeggios". Guitarist Mike O'Malley is back with helpful advice in, "What The 'F'". Marketing expert Christopher Knab returns with his thoughts in "Some Good Things About The Not So Good Ol' Days". Mike Philippov has delivered a new article entitled "Here Is What's Wrong With YOUR Sweep Picking Technique". Guitarist Jason Sadites has some great advice in "Rut Breakers". Greg Rapaport puts his spin on chromatics with "Applying The Chromatic Scale, Part 1". Our new contributor is Jon Rhodes with "How To Play Guitar By Ear".
