Ozric Tentacles
Jurassic Shift
The Story
"Jurassic Shift" is a remastered Ozrics' classic from 1993 which took the band to new heights, reaching number 1 in the UK indie charts. The immediate difference from previous recordings is the sound quality - slick and very polished, losing the mushroomed warmth of the first two releases (Pungent and Erpland) and the immediacy of Strangeitude (which had been rush-recorded in 6 weeks in a London studio). The band sound much more intense, less ponderous than the first two albums, the wave of interest and excitement that surrounded them at the time finding it's way into the ambience of the studio. Certainly "Stretchy", "Pteranadon" and "Vita Voom" pack a firm funky punch which was a noticeable change for any seasoned listener, the latter becoming a live favorite.
