Ozric Tentacles
Pungent Effulgent
The Story
"Pungent Effulgent" once again featured guitarist Ed Wynne and bassist Roly Wynne on seven rock instrumentals that bridge the gap between so many genres. Ed Baker writes, "Every track has it's own distinctive flavor and composition, on this album alone we are taken on a flight via "Disolution" to "0-1"'s tight punchy rhythms and blissed out keyboards complete with a rocking slice of space jazz and bongo fury in the middle eight. Live favorite "Kick Muck" is a microcosm of Ozricness, an amalgamation of flavors squeezed together and exploding out into a mad piece of Middle Eastern guitar and keyboard interplay, a thrashing frenzy that falls over itself to reach the finish. The Tentacles unique blend of progressive ethnic-space-dance-jazz-rock merely hints at their influences, a respectable nod to 'You' period Gong and 'Rainbow Dome Musick' era Hillage or Ed's favorites, krautrockers Kraan."
