Pat Metheny Group
Letter From Home
The Story
"Letter From Home" is another great Pat Metheny-Lyle Mays work, this time stressing Brazilian elements and finding Metheny and Mays dabbling with the Synclavier on many cuts. The all-digital "Letter From Home" contains the type of depth and honesty not typical in many smooth jazz releases. True to form, Metheny makes extensive use of technology, but is insightful enough to do so in a very warm and soulful fashion. Like "Still Life (Talking)", "Letter From Home" is an excellent example of a CD release that is both a commercial and an artistic success.
