The Story
If anyone into Van Halen's work doesn't find Paul Gilbert's solo releases interesting -- well, they need a medical checkup. Former Racer X and Mr. Big guitarist Paul Gilbert releases his third solo offering, "Beehive Live", recorded live in Japan. Gilbert has a reputation for being a melodic yet powerful player and this disc is a showcase of his ability as well as Paul's skill as a songwriter and vocalist. "Beehive Live" contains tunes from Paul's solo releases as well as cover versions of Emerson, Lake and Palmer's "Karn Evil 9" and an electric version of Mr. Big's "To Be With You". Flashy musicianship packaged with fun, catchy and humorous songwriting make this live showcase a no-brainer.
