Planet X
Moon Babies
The Story
"Moon Babies" is the much anticipated second studio release from Planet X featuring guest bassists Tom Kennedy, Jimmy Johnson and Billy Sheehan. Extreme virtuosity is the watchword here as guitarist Tony MacAlpine and keyboardist Derek Sherinian blaze mercilessly over some of the heaviest progressive music you're likely to hear. Drummer Vigil Donati rounds out the core trio, and pounds out a smorgasbord of odd rhythms and meters for the solosits to work with. A little more varied and complex than the group's previous release "Universe", but fans will find the two CDs each show various aspects of the band and their talent. The inclusion of the three guest bassists is just an added bonus, as they keep an aggressive, edgy low end under control.
