Rick Derringer
Back To The Blues
The Story
Most reminiscient of his work with Johnny and Edgar Winter, on "Back To The Blues" guitarist Rick Derringer runs the gamut from grinding slow blues to steamin' shuffles ("Blue Suede Blues" is an absolute killer that will have you dirving down the highway at 90 if you play it in your car) with an intensity and prowess that will remind you where it all started and how far it's come. Guitarist Kevin Russell joins the fray as well, as the duo cut heads for three minutes on "Blues All Night Long" and for almost as long on "Time To Go". Another highlight on "Back To The Blues" is the funkified "Crybaby", as well as the bellicose title track.
