Stanley Jordan
Live In New York
The Story
"Live In New York" captures the amazing two-handed guitar specialist Stanley Jordan in performance at the Manhattan Center on March 21, 1989. Originally taped for video release, only a few tracks have been previously issued on CD. You can hear Jordan in a cariety of settings on "Live In New York" - you'll hear him solo, with an all-star acoustic quartet with Kenny Kirkland, Charnett Moffett and Jeff Watts, and an electric group featuring Bernard Wright on keyboards. The concert does capture Jordan in peak form. Consider how well one man refashions standards with his own virtuoso style, burns up Coltrane tunes and reconstructs a Rod Temperton pop song into his own signature piece, Stanley Jordan is truly a singular artist.
