Steve Morse Band
Stand Up
The Story
"Stand Up" is the Steve Morse Band's 1985 album, now re-released on CD to the delight of all fans of Morse's amazing picking and compositional approach. A mixture of instrumentals and vocal cuts (with guest vocals by Van Temple, Albert Lee, Eric Johnson and Alex Ligertwood), the CD features an interesting support cast, including guest guitarists Lee, Johnson and Peter Frampton and keyboardist T Lavitz. There's some scorching guitar work, particularly on "Rockin' Guitars" where Morse and Lee both deliver brilliant solos and "Distant Star", where Johnson gets to show his stuff after a brief but hot Morse solo. "Stand Up" also features the violin of Mark O'Connor on "Pick Your Poison", a shredder hearkening back to the Dregs (of course).
