Jazz Guitarist Releases Second CD

With the great jazz talent that resides in the New York area, it takes a fine musician to set himself apart from the pack. Guitarist Chris Bergson's second CD Wait For Spring is an excellent recording which clearly states his intentions (musically) to rise above the scene. You'll hear shades of Montgomery and Evans in Bergson's style, which is delivered with impeccable taste and tone within a mainstream jazz context. Featuring wonderful original compositions and tunes by Dizzy Gillespie, Jerome Kern and Rodgers and Hart, the instrumental CD delivers both cool jazz that swings, and hot, uptempo numbers ("Blues For Sunny Jain" is a favorite). Can he get better than this? Let's put it this way, we won't be betting against him. Highly recommended.

Influenced by Bill Evans, Jim Hall, Grant Green, Wes Montgomery and Miles Davis, Chris rapidly developed his own incredible sound, taste and time, which make him a highly in-demand accompanist. His sideman credits include work with Annie Ross, Ralph Lalama, Joel Frahm, Joe Magnarelli, John Webber, Dena DeRose, and a host of other artists. Chris' first CD as a leader "Blues For Some Friends Of Mine" features bassist Dwayne Burno and drummer Greg Bandy, and continues to garner great reviews. Jim Fisch of Twentieth Century Guitar Magazine wrote of his debut, "With his first release, Bergson proves himself ready for the big time."

Bergson continues to gig regularly in the New York area at top clubs such as Birdland, Small's and has headlined at Smoke five times in 1999.
