Tom Kopyto's debut instrumental CD, YTK, was released internationally in late 1999 on the M.A.C.E. label. Geared toward fans of progressive metal and instrumental shred guitar, as well as fans of modern metal such as Korn and Fear Factory, the eight tracks on this CD absolutely deliver, with head-banging intensity and ferocious licks. Kopyto sets himself apart from the pack with his engaging compositions, meaning repeated listening is in store for cuts such as "A Window To Madness", "Solacitude" and "Contrition". Kopyto is a major guitar talent, fusing influences such as Mike Stern, Al DiMeola, Frank Gambale, King's X and Dream Theater into his own brand of metallic burn. Highly recommended.
7-string guitarist Tom Kopyto began playing in 1991 after discovering George Lynch, Yngwie Malmsteen and Paul Gilbert. He soon became obsessed with the guitar, sometimes studying with three different instructors in one week. The hard work paid off, as Tom was accepted to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in the summer of 1993. In 1994, he enrolled at the Chicago Musical College of Roosevelt University. At the same time, Tom began working with local bands and accepted freelance work at a local recording studio. He was signed to M.A.C.E. in April of 1999, and in the words of Michael Angelo Batio, "Tom is a true prodigy on guitar."
Kopyto recently has been performing with an instrumental progressive metal/fusion trio. Also, he is now endorsed by Brian Moore Custom Guitars, DR Strings and Vanous Technologies.
