Making Music
The Story
Percussionist Carter Beauford and bassist Victor Wooten take viewers inside the process of creating a song through an examination of the studio sessions for Wooten's "Yin Yang" album. In addition, the musicians play their parts for each song separately to show how they combine to make a whole song. The demonstration of this process by two such stellar performers make this necessary for any drum or bass player who wants to more comprehensively approach their craft.

Victor and Carter have known each other since childhood, however Victor's "Yin Yang" album (Compass Records) was the first project that they have ever done together. Hudson Music filmed two days of these incredible sessions. Viewers will get an inside look as 2 great songs, "Zynergy" and "Resolution", are introduced, developed and recorded. Also featured is material from an additional shoot in a New York City recording studio. Over the course of this session, Carter and Victor discuss their approaches to both of the songs and isolate the bass and drums parts for each, covering topics such as playing in odd times, styles, musicianship, turnarounds and more. It's a fascinating process to watch the chemistry between players of this caliber.

Special DVD features include: 50-minute Master Class by Victor (discussing his Bass Camp, Muting, Economy Of Motion, Finding Your Own Voice), Victor's Brilliant Solo From Bass Day 2001, 35-minute Interview with Carter, Extensive Photo Gallery.
