Yngwie J. Malmsteen
Facing The Animal
The Story
Yngwie J. Malmsteen's "Facing The Animal" continues the guitar virtuoso's neo-classical and shred tradition with 13 heavy metal tracks, featuring songs such as "Braveheart" - one of his most powerul and heaviest songs ever. One short instrumental track, "Air On A Theme" closes the CD, but in the middle, vocalist Mats Leven handles Ynqwie's lyrics with verve. Other highlights include "End Of My Rope", with Malmsteen's trademark blazing pedal tones and arpeggios, and "Like An Angel" a beautiful ballad dedicated to his fiance (now wife), April. "Facing The Animal" is ranked by most Malmsteen buffs as being in the top three or four of the guitarist's solo albums, and as such, would be one of the first choices for novice neo-classical enthusiasts.
