The Hand Farm is the new, all instrumental CD from New Jersey fusion guitarist Scott McGill. A relentless, aggressive guitarist in the vein of John Goodsall, Allan Holdsworth and Scott Henderson, McGill explodes over each of the eleven tracks with propulsive musical chops, backed by nothing more than bass and drums. Scott has been playing guitar for fifteen years and his formal training includes a B.M. in Jazz Performance from Temple University (summa cum laude) in 1990. He has also studied privately with New York guitarist Kevin Kuhn. Scott started the progressive rock/fusion band Finneus Gauge with former Echolyn keyboardist Chris Buzby in 1996 to write their well-reviewed debut album, "More Once More". This stunning 12 song release features Scott's improvisational guitar style being woven together with ripping keyboards, funk-influenced bass, polyrhythmic percussion and soaring three-part vocal harmonies. The album was chosen as one of Keyboard magazine's top records of 1997.
McGill just finished working with some excellent musicians (including drummer Vic Stevens and Chico Huff) for his next album, "Ripe", to be released in February, 1999. Finneus Gauge is currently mixing their second CD, "One Inch Of The Fall, scheduled for release in December of 1998.
