Combining a love of acoustic fingerstyle music, melody-driven content and influences including Leo Kottke, Gordon Lightfoot, Chet Atkins, Doc Watson and James Taylor, Guitarioso serves as Michigan guitarist Dave Wodnicki opening musical statement in the easy listening genre. Wodnicki has the skill and technical ability to keep even simple songs interesting, adding his flourishes and melodic touches where appropriate. He's included nine of his own compositions here, which offer some of the finest moments, along with original arrangements of "My Favorite Things", "Be Thou My Vision" and "Shenandoah". Guitarioso is a good choice for acoustic fingerstyle lovers seeking an easy, yet passionate, listen.
Dave grew up in Canada, and originally took accordion lessons, but was drawn to the guitar by listening to an uncle play in the style of Chet Atkins and Lenny Breau. He then acquired a guitar of his own, consuming much of his life learning to play on both electric and acoustic guitars. Dave gradually found himself playing fingerstyle, feeling it coming very naturally to him, learning to play the melody against a bass line with both precision and continuity. After finishing Guitarioso, Dave began working on material for two more CD projects, and hopes to continue to play guitar live and share his music whenever and wherever he can.
Wodnicki is also one of the founding board members of the Michigan Fingerstyle Guitar Society and is very active in their promotions and charitable events. The Society brings some of the world's very finest acoustic guitarists to Michigan for concerts and workshops.
